Croatia offers an amazing diversity of wines from different vineyards throughout this unique country. We created trycroatianwines.com so that you can use the wine directory to navigate wineries near the cities you’re visiting, or plan your travel itinerary around wineries and tastings for a fun “travel through wine” adventure. We are not wine professionals, but we are avid, passionate travelers with a taste for quality wines and a heart for sharing experiences we have been thrilled with.

The diverse climate of flora and fauna provide this small country with the right acidity to produce delicious wines. In the north and east the rolling hills are what most people are used to when they think of wine regions, bright green with vineyards decorating the sides of hills as far as the eye can see. In the west the region of Istra is mysterious with varieties of wines world renowned, the stony landscapes are dotted with greenery of the vines. Wine making is a lifestyle here and the people work together to produce some of the world’s most famous wines. In the South the word of wine is very different, some hills can be seen, but mostly its stone encased vines protected from the winds of the sides of harsh Dalmatian hills, or sunken vineyards on the grounds of deep red dirt, or wines made where there is no dirt, but only sand. Dalmatian wines are as diverse as wine itself.
